Biloxi, MS Hi, I'm 39 years old and am getting back in shape after 2 years of lack of exercise and bad diet. This has been due to focusing on business to the exclusion of most everything else. This has been due to focusing on business to the exclusion of most everything else. Except for the past couple of years, I've always exercised and been in excellent condition from surfing, swimming, diving, martial arts etc. I started P90X on 11/1/2009 and am looking to add several pounds of muscle, drop ~20 pounds of fat, and generally get back into great shape. I like the structured program, schedule, and motivation of working out with Tony & co.
Update: After 6 weeks of X, I'm glad I jumped into it rather than waiting until I was 'ready' for it. The 3 weeks of prep work helped a little, but I think starting X 3 weeks earlier would have benefited me more. If you're thinking of starting X but aren't sure if you're ready - I encourage you to go for it!
Update: After 60 days of X, I'm seeing lots of positive changes: gained several pounds of muscle and have lost several pounds of fat. My weight has stayed about the same but body fat is down ~6%. I have been customizing the program more & more as I progress. Mostly I've added full-body and compound movements like squats, deadlifts & cleans, along with overhead press & bench press with barbells. Also dips and rows with gymnastics rings. To make room for these additions, I've eliminated tricep kickbacks on the arms day and clipped other nonfunctional & isolation moves where possible to keep set #s consistent with a focus on big, strength-building movements with heavy weight.

I'm getting back into shape after letting myself slide for the past 2 years due to focusing on business over everything else. I have about 20 lbs of fat to lose around my midsection, about 4 inches from my waist, and a couple of inches to add to my chest and a couple of inches to my arms.
I used to be very into martial arts for many years, with lots of bodyweight calisthenics training and kettlebells. I've also been pretty heavily into surfing, kayaking, freediving & hiking although most of that backed off considerably from 2007-2009. The bodyweight focus of Tony's programs is what attracted me to beachbody.
I did a mix of assorted workouts for 3 weeks in preparation for P90X, started on 11/1/09. We'll see how well-prepared I was!
