I turned 36 years old in May and am married to a beautiful wife and have an 19 month old baby boy and a 3 month old baby girl. Even though I had been involved in athletics my entire life, I never really knew how to transform my body thru proper nutrition and exercise.
I saw the P90X commercial in January 2008 and decided that I needed to try something different. I have seen great results and have found support, motivation, and inspiration thru the Beachbody community. In April, I was fortunate enough to attend the Tony Horton fitness camp and was able to hang out and discuss the workouts with the other P90X geeks and receive some great guidance Tony. I also use the other Beachbody products including Tony Horton One on One and the Ten Minute Trainer. Finally, I was the MDB $1000 contest winner in November 2008.
I am a Beachbody coach and I became a coach to help keep myself accountable and to become both physically and financially fit. I want to help bring this opportunity to other people to help them reach their goals. I enjoy hearing about not only the great success but the struggles from other folks in the Beachbody community and look forward to helping everyone reach their health and fitness goals. I grew up in a very competitive environment with my 3 brothers and 1 sister. I participated in football, basketball, baseball, boxing, and soccer growing up. I played both football and basketball in high school and also started lifting weights more seriously. I had the opportunity to play football in college and during my pre-screen physical, it was determined that I had high blood pressure. I was 19 years old and couldn’t pass my physical in college to play football until I got my HBP under control. Thru daily medication, my blood pressure got under control but I was told that I would probably have to take it for the rest of my life. To complete in football, my weight eventually got up to around 230 lbs thru weight lifting and a very bad diet. After college, I tried to take some of the extra weight off and get my blood pressure under control but the same old diet and exercise programs were not working.
My family has a history of heart disease so I thought this was normal and didn’t really take to the concept of changing my lifestyle to reduce this major risk factor. I had maintained my weight the past few years around 215lbs and had become comfortable with it. I was taking blood pressure meds (both Norvasc and Lisinopril) and my lifestyle had turned more sedentary. In July 2007, my wife and I had our first baby and were overwhelmed with all of the work and time it took to take care of a newborn baby. At this point in my life, I was working out maybe 2 times a month and my diet was horrendous. Things needed to change!
In January 2008, my wife and I saw the P90X commercial and thought this would be a great workout for us to get involved in – we could both do the workouts and we could do it in the comfort of our home. We ordered the program and I completed my 1st round of P90X in May and am currently in round 2. I have re-dedicated myself to exercise and nutrition and have seen some great results. I have lost 33 lbs to date. Also, thru consultation with my doctor, I no longer take blood pressure medication, although I do check it regularly.
I now tell everyone I know about the great Beachbody products and motivating community support system that helped me transform my body, my spirit, and my outlook. I now look forward to many health years with my wife and young baby enjoying life and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
