Prior to 2007, I had used marathon running, wrestling, and even college baseball to stay in shape and to slim down. But fast-forward to March 2007 -- I was about to start P90X in 9 months, but I didn't know it yet. Running 4 marathons each year for several years, I developed Piriformis Syndrome. “Interesting,” I thought. After the injury, I was up 40 lbs, comfortable on the couch with my scotch bottle, and I wasn’t getting back up. And then a buddy of mine helped change my life.
If I couldn’t run, due to my Piriformis injury – I was losing my fitness level daily, so I needed to wrkout the bodyparts that did work! The Fit Test for P90X was, in a word, “unimpressive” :~) – Wall Squats? 10 seconds! And I could barely bend over and touch my knees! When I got the P90X DVD’s and my Chinup Bar from BeachBody, I popped in the Chest & Back DVD – just to watch – and I could already see that this was the program for me. With all the upper body workouts that Tony has built into the program, it was the perfect fit for me because my legs didn’t work. (Tough thing for a marathoner, right.)
My pictures can’t show how truly satisfied I am now – I’ve gone from 204 lbs to a low of 160 lbs, although I’m about to go lower – thanks BeachBody, thanks Missy Costello, and thanks Tony!

11/11/09 I may not be 1000% religious with this blog, but it's a good way to keep a record. Coming up on my 5th & 6th road races this season (4th & 5th marathons). These will give me the USATF's Gold More... View Journal
