Thanks for stopping by! I'm a 47 year-old empty nester mother of 3: Eric 24, Audrey 22 and Luke who is on the cusp of turning 21 (he shares an apartment at college with his brother). Welcome to my Team Beachbody coaching page! Thanks for stopping by! I'm a 47 year-old empty nester mother of 3: Eric 24, Audrey 22 and Luke who is on the cusp of turning 21 (he shares an apartment at college with his brother). I also have had the pleasure of being stepmom to Jonathan 25, Michael 24 and Jessica 22. Two years ago, Jonathan and his wife rewarded us with a beautiful little ray of sunshine named Elijah. Eli named me "Mimi" and says, "Mimi...GO!" Hence, my screen name here at Team Beachbody =o) I work as a Registered Nurse in surgery. For years, I've been helping my surgeons provide patients with a "different" kind of transformation process. While I love my job, it does keep me indoors (no windows!) much more than I would like. With Beachbody, I get the opportunity to help PEOPLE perform and accomplish their own, personal ACTIVE body transformations! How satisfying is that!? From an early age, I was active and athletic. Dancing beginning at age 4, competitive swimming starting at age 7, gymnastics through highschool, diving in college, etc. I made a brief foray into the world of women's body building in 1982 which ended just before I became pregnant with my eldest son in Oct 1983. For the next few years, it seemed like I was always pregnant. Still, though I had my hands delightfully full with three little ones, I'd pack 'em all up and get out for power walks as much as possible, and - if we could afford them - attend an exercise class or two. While I managed to maintain a relatively healthy weight, I was never able to quite be consistent enough to get even close to the fit, athletic level I had always known. Our little family moved to Colorado in 1997, looking for a fresh start. Our activity level increased in a state with a practically year-round outdoor season, which was great. One day I realized that if I was going to progress, I would need to set a goal. I decided that a mini-triathalon might be a perfect fit for someone like me. I dusted off my old 1983 Trek, started logging 1600m in the pool 3 mornings a week (by this time, I was working in an OB/Gyn office, so had a later start), and got runs in during (an actual hour long) lunch. I cycle-trained only on weekends, but here there are so many hills, it made up for none during the week. Anyway....the rest of the story... The tris were fun, I was back to weight-training and had achieved quite possibly the best physical condition of my life -lean and strong. I was eating clean and taking the perfect combination of nutritional supplementation. I was also on a crew for sailboat races, which was a blast. In the midst of all this, my rocky marriage of 14 years crashed and burned for the last time. All outside activities came to a screeching halt, only to be replaced by stress, strife and fear. By the time I got back to trying to take care of myself, I had resorted to Ephedra- based "supplements" in an effort to help boost my metabolism. Dummy. Over the years, I've had periods of fitness recovery, but I came to P90X and Team Beachbody in one of the worst emotional, mental and physical states of my life. I hoped that P90X - and my wonderful husband's support - would help me get turned around for good. Guess what! I haven't been disappointed!!!! I guess I'd have to go back to September 2004, when-- just 3 weeks after finally marrying and moving into a new home with my wonderful husband-- our surgery department manager resigned. For some reason, it was assumed that I would be willing to step right in, though I had no management experience. The next 3 years saw the stress taking its toll on my mental and physical well-being (I felt like I'd aged 10 years!). Finally, in the summer of 2007 I mustered up the courage to resign from that position and returned to a staff nurse status. Unfortunately, the damage had been done. I had become.....a slug. It was a relief to finally have the burden off of me, but now what? I tried to get going, and was able to make a little bit of progress. Then 2008 hit. It seemed like one thing after another, culminating in the unexpected and sudden death of my beloved mother-in-law in May. I began this downward spiral into a type of depression that I had never experienced before! I was prescribed antidepressants in August - which did help some. Still, try as I might, I just wasn't making it happen. I was really just kind of flapping in the breeze so to speak. In late October 2008, I found myself mesmerized by this P90X infomercial -- I just couldn't stop watching it. Within a few weeks, I did order the program. I knew I would have to really commit myself -- no matter how beat I was at the end of a work day. I also took the opportunity to join Team Beachbody at that time. Boy, am I glad I did! You can't even know! Since starting MY P90X program -- and it IS mine- just like any of the programs here can be YOUR own personal program -- I have found new energy and have begun to see the beginnings of muscle definition and strength that I was afraid I would never see again. Sometime around week 8 or 9, I was laid up for 3-4 weeks due to illness. Regaining the momentum I had attained, proved to be much more difficult than I expected. I was beginning to flounder. Then, I remembered: "Hey, I'm a Team Beachbody member -- I can get on the message boards, and participate in the live VIP chats with Tony Horton!" Sure enough, when I was in Tony's chat, he very graciously provided me with the guidance I needed on how to best proceed with the program. How cool was that? Couple that with the interaction I had with other Team Beachbody members, I was able to dig deep and forge ahead. Even though I've really only been back on track for about 3 1/2 weeks now, I've regained that momentum I need, so that I keep pushing play. While I experienced a slight back-slide, this old girl's on her way again!! Want to know a bonus? Just in the last week or two, I've been able to wean off of those antidepressants. I still have a way to go before I get to where I want to be, but I have all the confidence in the world now that I'm gonna get there! Man, I love this place! As a matter-of-fact, I have such high regard and respect for the integrity and mission of this company, that I became a Team Beachbody coach, myself!
