My name is Jon and I am 39 years old working on the big 40! I have a beautiful wife and an 18 year old son, both, whom I couldn’t live without. I have worked as a firefighter for the last 11 years and am looking forward to another 14 in the great city of Manchester, NH. I enjoy racing motocross, cruising on my street bike, camping, working out, music, going on trips and spending time with the friends and family which I am blessed. Some of my future goals are to shed 3% of body fat and gain 5 lbs of muscle. The muscle gains seem to be the hardest but, without a challenge there is no feeling of reward, so all I can do is my best. The bigger picture right now is to remain fit and help people like you achieve their goals. I have always been pretty active through work and play which has helped me to remain somewhat fit. I have worked out in a gym on and off at different points in my life only to achieve lack luster results. The problem I had with a gym is that it was easy for me to fall out of the routine and I didn’t have anyone for support and motivation. I never seemed to have a solid game plan when I entered the gym, so the results I did get were minimal. As the years went by my exercise became less and less. The activities I loved to do were starting to become harder and harder. My favorite pastime is to race motocross which is a physically demanding sport when your on your game, never mind riding on that “fine line” while your exhausted and can’t hold on to the handlebars. I found that I was not able to push hard on every lap like the first. I desperately needed to find a total body conditioning program to up my game. Another eye opener came after a vacation we took in Florida. I saw a picture of myself and it really brought to light the shape I was in and the road I was on. I did not like what I saw, and even though my wife says I look handsome in that picture, it all gets back to how YOU feel about yourself. If you don’t like the way you look and feel it will directly affect you to your core. Your confidence and the way you carry yourself in everything you do is tilted. So one night back in January of 2007 I was lying on my bed, probably just finished a half of box of CheezIts or maybe 6-8 cookies with milk. I was on my side with my belly lying beside me; it was not a pretty site or feeling. Then as I scanned the channels I came across the P90X infomercial. P90X was an intense program that would allow you to obtain unbelievable results if you were willing to commit to the program. Work hard, eat right and the results WILL come. The proof is there for all to see case after case. This was the program for me, for the first time in my life I was willing to buy something from an infomercial. I made a promise to myself to work hard and change my eating habits for 90 days. This is no small commitment; it requires a change in lifestyle and dedication. One thing I found with change is…it is only hard for the first few weeks. Do anything for two weeks and you will find that you will adapt, it becomes who you are before you know it. After completing my 90 days of P90X I was amazed at my results. I lost 14 lbs, 2 ½” off my gut and made gains where I needed them. My chest, back, arms, legs all were bigger with muscle tone and the definition I always wanted. I had flexibility that I never had, and as I said before, along with the physical results came a great feeling of accomplishment. I enjoyed my physical activities more than ever. Whether it was doing work around the house or racing motocross I looked forward to it. When the racing season started I found that I was able to push hard for the whole race. This made such a difference in my results and the fun factor. I went on to win the 30+ championship in the 2008 motocross season, something I would have never been able to do in the body I use to live in.
