Late July, 2006 I started my journey with Beachbody products by ordering the beginning Turbo Jam package. Little did I know where this fitness video purchase would take me over subsequent years! I loved Turbo Jam and found myself scheduling early morning workouts with Success Buddies in WOWY several times a week. Turbo was new and exciting for me and it was then that I fell in love with exercise. I quickly purchased all the Turbo packages available and for nearly a year I was a Turbo nut. I was in great shape but was still missing the critical component to a healthy lifestyle and that was eating properly to fuel my body. Still, I continued on and August, 2007 brought a round of Slim in 6 into my life. Despite the consistent exercise, my poor eating habits had resulted in an additional 10 pounds over my weight from the year before. Slim in 6 was a big change from Turbo Jam but I was determined to finish the round. Finish I did and then moved on. My next purchase was Hip Hop Abs and I spent eight weeks in an advanced rotation with Shaun T and his crew. I am incredibly uncoordinated but managed to finish without hurting myself (no small miracle). In the meantime I found myself intrigued by Power 90. I ordered that and again worked through a round. I enjoyed Tony and the kids as well as the alternating Sweat and Sculpt workouts. I challenged myself with decline pushups and upped my weights to finish strong at the end. After Power 90 I moved on to Power 90 Master Series which showed me a different side of Tony Horton. It was fun, it was challenging and there was so much variety! Two full rounds and one month of a lean rotation went quickly. I was working hard but not really losing weight. The issue? I still didn’t have my eating under control. I was not tracking my intake and while we were eating healthy, low-fat, high fiber foods I was also snacking at night and eating larger portions than necessary. October 2008 brought about a challenge in a thread I follow (Barbie’s Slim Spot) and I finally jumped into the community in earnest. I joined the challenge to workout and eat clean 6 days a week with other Slim Spot participants. I jumped into another round of Slim in 6 during this time and really started to see some progress. Another challenge followed the first and I continued on while starting my first round of P90x. I was apprehensive at first but have found that I can do this! Phase 1 resulted in a loss of 7 pounds and 6” overall. I was thrilled! I was still working hard but found that critical component necessary – balanced eating! I’m nearing the end of phase 2 and hope to find more losses this weekend. No matter the results, I feel better than I have in a long time and at age 43 am in much better shape than I was in my younger years. December 2008 brought a lot of chatter on the message boards about coaching, something I had never really considered before. I looked into it, pondered it and decided against it. I then found myself talking to a friend at work about Beachbody and how it had changed my life and I realized, I talk to a lot of my friends, family members and coworkers about what I’m doing. What if I formalized this so I could help more? It was like a light bulb went off in my head. I signed up and am very excited at the prospect of helping many others who have been in the same boat I was in two years ago. I have several faithful WOWY buddies that I've had the pleasure of working out with over the last two years. MartyK, aschwartz, turbomomof3 and villie are just a few that I 'see' so many mornings in WOWY. Thanks to all of my success buddies for being there and motivating me each morning.
