Well what to say? I am a 47 year old guy with a passion for life and living. I grew up as an avid skier, desert motorcyclist, martial art student and all around athlete, veteran. I have BS in Nursing and a MS in Anesthesia, I am a CRNA, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and a Beachbody coach.
Fast forward 20 years. One morning while being out of breath tying my shoes I looked in the mirror and said who the H*ll is that, “Enough”, I looked horrible and felt worse. Decided to begin to get in good shape again and was beginning another ski season. It was going well until I blew my L ACL. I underwent surgical reconstruction Feb. 06: my advice is to avoid that if possible ;). The realization hit that if I did not get in good shape again I would have to give up the things that I love, or continually get hurt doing them, neither of those options was appealing. So in Dec. 2005, I began on my own; a mix of cardio and lifting, by July 2006 I lost 50lbs, dropped to 8% body fat, lowered my cholesterol considerably, resting heart rate went down 30 bpm and I felt phenomenal. I had achieved my goals, mostly; although I had lost some lean mass in the process, and really had developed no core strength. I had also become fairly bored with my routine, monotonous, required a gym etc. and I work very weird hours. Regained 25 lbs. I continued looking for a really good/complete program that had variety, intensity, worked on all aspects of being fit- strength, flexibility, agility, balance and cardio. It had to be convenient, not require a lot of special equipment, doable at home. It needed variety, so that it could be ‘customizable’ and adaptable with other things so as not to get boring, something that you could use to stay fit as well as get fit; I found it in P90X and the great community of support that came along with it.

I found P90X by accident. While at work one day the conversation drifted to fitness/obesity , etc. as it does fairly often. One of the orthopedic surgeons mentioned P90X, Tony Horton and muscle confusion which made my ears perk up. The principle is sound and is what all really good programs must incorporate for long term progress. I went home and googled it and found the P90X website, I was quite intrigued and ordered it. After receiving it, going through it and doing it for a week I was hooked, this was the perfect program for me, exactly what I was looking for. It is a COMPLETE program that includes all the things I was looking for wrapped up in a nice clean solid program. The message boards/coaching concept of Team Beachbody are an added bonus for me as they will help with motivation and accountability and contain a lot of great info and support. And the coaching/business aspect holds a tremendous amount of potential. Let the fun begin! How can ya go wrong?
Day 99- End of round 1 Overall very pleased with the program, nutritional intake has been about a 7, training intensity a 9 or better. Having such a weird schedule it took a little longer to complete. The stats and pic’s speak for themselves, what they don’t tell is that I have way more cardio fitness and endurance, am stronger and have more endurance; flexibility, balance and agility are as good or better than they have ever been and core strength and endurance are way better than ever.
I have learned a tremendous amount about fitness and nutrition and continue to do so. I will sit for my American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), Health and Fitness Advisor Certification Exam in Dec 2008. Round 2 starts Aug. 17, 2008
