I am a 54 year old mother of two grown children. I have one grand-son and looking forward to getting more as my son has recently gotten married. So, we now have an empty nest. My husband and I own a flooring installation business. We install ceramic tiles, slate and hardwood along with infloor heating systems. We opened the business in 1996 after retiring from the Canadian Military. At that time we did it all. Carpets, lino, hardwood and tile.I went to work with my husband and helped to install the flooring, which kept me active and in shape. Seven and 1/2 years ago I decided to quit smoking as I was starting to have trouble breathing. It was then that I seemed to start eating more and I gained about 10 pounds. I also noticed that my heels felt like they were bruised all the time and decided to go to the doctor. After many years of installing floors I sustained damage to the joints of my big toes. The cartilage was totally destroyed and now I have trouble bending my toes back. (it is painful)I also now have fallen arches and have gone flat footed. Needless to say this left me in a position where I am no longer able to go to the jobsites as I am unable to get up and down from the floors with out great difficulty. The big "M" (menopause) hit me hard about 3 yrs ago and I found my metabolism slowing down even more and the pounds kept packing on. My friends and family kept telling me " oh, you look good, these things happen as we get older". Well if this is what getting older is all about, I want no part of it. When I was in my early thirties I joined the gym, I got into body building (and that was b4 it was a great way to stay fit, it was still the guy thing to do). I felt great all the time and my energy levels were always up. I needed all the energy I could get to keep up with my children and all their activities as well as work full time at a bank. Most of the time I was raising my family on my own as my husband was in the military and usually away. Right now I run the office end of our business from my home office.Usually going on the road once a week to check out the job sites and make sure that I collect the paperwork I need and to see my husband as he is usually away all week long only returning friday nites and then leaving again monday morning. I love horseback riding and own my own horse.I try to get out riding whenever I can. I keep her at my friends farm just outside of town, so I don't get to ride all the time and the town I live in is rural and very small so no gyms here to join. I am hoping that power 90 will be my answer.

I have been doing Beach Body workouts for approximately 14 months now. Most of that time I have been on one program or another. Right now I am on week six of Shaun T's Insanity. Before I started this program I felt I was in pretty good shape for being fifty-five years old. We can become pretty vain I do believe when we start to get feeling better. A visit with my coach in Oklahoma has helped me to realise that I had barely started to challenge myself. There are many experiences that life has to offer. I was always the type of person that wanted to play it safe though, just in case I was unable to do it. Low confidence, low self esteem, insecurity...these are all emotions that I am tired of experiencing. I needed a new challenge. My coach gave it to me. You are now fit she said. Climb this wall, now ride this jet skii. Do INSANITY...ok that was my idea; I got too full of myself. This program is NOT for the faint of heart. It is extremely difficult. Everyday I need to talk myelf into doing the workout. Even the recovery one. I am now doing this program just one day at a time and when I am finished and have conquered it. Well, let's just say I won't be in any hurry to do a round two. Like my coach says, I don't do it because I like it. I just like what it does for my body.
UPDATE...October21/09 I have conquered the Insanity program. I have also ordered the new REV ABS and am currently awaiting it's arrival by UPS. Since I started this journey;one of my goals has been to see my abs. Here is hoping that this program will do that for me.
