Hi! My name is Morgan & I'm a "CANCER SURVIVOR". I'm 37 years young. I live in Long Island NY (born & raised). My story starts about 3 years ago. I was playing with my dog "COCO" and she hit me in the groin area, I felt a slight pull but thought nothing of it. Months went by and I hit the same area while working (OUCH). Within days I had a 3" lump sticking out of my skin. I went right to the doctor and they thought it was a hernia. Within days I rushed to a hernia specialist & then was rushed in for a byopise the following day. Man I didn't even have time to think everything was going so fast it felt like a dream. The next two days were really rough on my family sitting and waiting for the results. Then (BAM) I was hit with news no one is ever ready to hear "CANCER" I had stage 3 melanoma. On July 20 2007 I had the 3" tumor and about 20 lymph nodes removed from my left leg and pelvis. The 6hr. surgery was a success but over the next few weeks I had to learn to walk again. I was getting very depressed thinking I would never run or play sports again. Then the 6 months of chemotherapy and 7 weeks of radiation started, what a nightmare. Thank god for friends and family and my will to live. I was in good shape before I got sick and now I was turning into a couch potato. I lost all my muscle mass but I was so happy to be alive and have a 2nd chance on life. I truly feel its a mental battle to beat cancer as well as listing to your doctors. If you truly believe I mean truly believe you will beat it you are one step closer to beating it. I'm no different from anyone else but in my heart and mind I never had it and its never coming back. Now almost 2 years CANCER free I feel strong enough to take the p90x challenge. The leg is still a little weak and I have to wear a compression stocking but I'm ready to get started. I know with my will and the help of the beachbody team I will be in the best shape of my new life. Thanks for checking out my story and I hope it helps someone in someway. Never give up and remember to stop and smell the roses sometime life is great so enjoy it. Good luck to all. P.S. wear your sun block and take wheatgrass every day...
