I'm married with 4 children, and have served in the Air Force for the past 20+ years. I've been a computer programmer for 6 years, and spent 16 years prior to that as a heavy equipment mechanic. I was never much into exercise, but started running regularly on a treadmill in 2008, but only running, and didn't see any results. I started P90X on Dec 31, 2008, and have had very good results. One morning, I saw a P90X infomercial, and the timing was right for me. I was completely receptive to the idea of a change. I started P90X Dec 31, 2008, using resistance bands, pull-up/push-up bar, yoga mat, and a heart rate monitor. I later added free weights and a variety of items that add enjoyment to my workouts. Initially I had difficulty finding a workout time that fit my schedule. I chose to wake up earlier and exercise before work, and now I start the day with much more energy.

For nutrition, I use a combination of the portion plan and meal plans, and stick to the nutrition plan 99% of the time. I don't miss junk food, and am feel a lot better since I've been eating clean. I know the nutrition is as important as the exercise. Now that I've been eating clean for several months, I feel comfortable having a small non-healthy snack occasionally. In reality, I can find healthy alternatives that are just as satisfying, and I feel better about eating. I feel successful on the nutrition front, as I can now have a small snack guilt-free, as I know I can control what I eat. Plus, if I eat too bad, I'll just "reward" myself with an extra cardio workout or run.

In order to stay on track, I HAVE to have my workout planned the day before. I don't do very good if I just wake up and try to come up with something to do. On those days, I usually end up doing 10-30 minutes of some cardio workout, then going for a 20-30 minute run. If I'm dragging beforehand, I am wide awake and a ball of energy afterwards.

This is the first time that I've been this motivated about fitness. I look forward to my workout everyday...and the recovery drink. I enjoy reaching my goals, feeling healthy, and knowing I will have a better life.

Sep 8, 2009: The past month, I've switched my plan over to Turbo Jam. I started initially so my wife and I could work out together. I thought it was just a light dancing around routine, but it turned out to be a good workout. It is not P90X, but is a good maintenance routine. It took me a week or so to get some of the moves down, but I've really gotten to enjoy it. Unfortunately, it's time to move on, as...today, I convinced myself to order Insanity. I've been debating on it for about a month, and had just about decided to start another round of P90X. I have about 3 1/2 months until my one year Beachbody anniversary, and I want to crush it this last quarter. I've decided to do Insanity first, do a week or two of Turbo Jam, then start another round of the X to close the year out. A great way to close out what has been the best year of my life...so far!

Sep 15, 2009 - INSANITY arrived in the mail today. Timing was perfect, I'll start tommorrow and Tuesdays will be my rest day. I'm excited for this 60+ day rush.
