I am a very busy mom of 2 kids, a 18 year old son who is training to be a firefighter and a 16 year old daughter who is a very active tournament tennis player.
I was pretty lucky to be just a skinny teenager. I never had to work too hard to keep a nice figure. I played alto saxophone in my high school band but I was never an athlete. I didn't like to get sweaty.
Then I got married and had 2 kids. I didn't do pregnacy so well and wound up on total bed rest with my second child. I gained alot of weight through that pregancy and it took me a long time to take it off. After that my body never returned to my former "skinny" self. My weight fluctuated up and down through the next few years with my heaviest weight at 175 lbs.
I have had great eating habits for several years now. I became a vegetarian in the summer of 2001 because of the death of a dear friend that died of cancer. I will eat some seafood as well.
In January of 2008 I began working out at the gym with a personal trainer but I had very little success. My personal trainer never taught me how to eat correctly. Sure, he showed me how to use the weights correctly but he didn't teach me what to do after I left the gym, which I have now learned is most of my success. I now know that eating right and balancing my carbs and proteins and eating healthy fats is where the secret is.
I have lots of past experience with different ways of eating that I now bring forward with me into the sports and fitness arena.
Then I turned 50 years old in January of 09' and I knew it was now or never. There is something about reaching the milestone of 50 years old that makes you really rethink where you are at in your life. So I started P90X on January 26, 2009 and the rest is now history.....more to follow in my transformation story.
