Runaway Bay, TX I am TxGolfPro here and on Twitter, but my momma calls me Miki. I lived in Deep South Texas, across the Laguna Madre Bay from the best beach area in the state, South Padre Island for 12 years, but recently moved to Runaway Bay, a small community on a lake north of Fort Worth. I grew up in central Texas, in a small town near the capitol city of Austin. I am very proud of my Texas heritage! I am TxGolfPro here and on Twitter, but my momma calls me Miki. I’ve played golf since my first lesson from Dad when I was 10 years old, and played in high school and college. Right out of college, I went to work as a Golf Professional, earning my PGA membership in 2002 by completing the required comprehensive courses. At that time, I moved up into the Head Professional position, which I resigned in 2008 to become self-employed as an independent petroleum landman. Now, I travel almost every week to where the work is, and I take my DVDs, bands, and weights with me.
I will continue to work as a landman as long as the oil & gas business is decent, but I can always go back into the golf shop if needed. My husband is also a golf professional.

Most of my adult life, I have maintained some semblance of fitness. Staying fit in college was easy - walking nine to 18 golf holes four to five days a week burns a lot of calories! I’ve always maintained relative strength and flexibility as well. However, when I became Head Golf Professional at my last club, most of my days were spent behind a desk. During that time, I took up running, but I think that was the only reason I stopped gaining weight - I sure didn’t lose any! So, over the last several years, my weight has creeped up. No tragic events. No ailments. No excuses, really. I finally came to the realization that my attitudes and actions were responsible for my condition. Period.
I heard about P90X from my brother, who told me his friend’s wife lost 30 pounds working out with Tony Horton! OMG - that’s my number! That’s how much I need to lose! Gimme gimme! So, I ordered it, and dove in. At the time I started my first round, I was training for my first half-marathon. Well, talk about tough for a half-lazy redneck chick! I got through the first round, finished my half-marathon in goal time, but only lost a little weight and a few overall inches - cuz I was eating like a horse! I immediately started a second round, but ditched the running; I was still eating like I was running, too. Well, somewhere in the middle of that round, I decided to revise my goals. I wasn’t seeing any results, and was just spinning my wheels.
So, here I am. I currently in Round 4 of P90X and training for another half-marathon in February. I am also trying to develop new eating habits, and adhere better to the Nutrition Plan as set out by the Beachbody team. I know if I do that, I will reach and possibly exceed my goals.
I also want to be an inspiration for others as a Beachbody Coach. If I can help just one person achieve their goals and dreams in health, I will feel all my personal effort has paid off.
