I'm a full time college student, as well as a free lance photographer and editor. I homeschool. I work part-time. I run around accomplishing my to-do list and have learned to still make "me" a priority, because I have to take Hi! And I believe in the power of commitment to help me achieve my goals. I believe in the reality of my dreams because I am committed to making them real. And I believe in you ... because you can do it, too!!!
I'm also sick of being overweight, overtired, and overextended. So I've made the commitment to make all of that change. And you can, too! For nearly ten years, I've had the idea that as soon as I "really wanted" to lose weight, I'd be able to. And the pounds kept coming. Five here, two there ... and then a total of nearly 120 unwanted pounds showed up on the scale one morning. So I got motivated and went to the gym, bought low fat foods and went to work. A week later I weighed 2 pounds more than when I started. Why? Because when I lost the drive, I ate.
So what's different now? The difference is my commitment to a new way of life. I am eating healthier, I am making time to exercise, and I am thinking differently. We no longer reward with eating out or a special dessert in our home; we spend time playing a game, or even better going for a walk together. Food isn't my social hub anymore, but something I eat because my body needs something to fuel it for all of the activity I am doing.

P.S. Feel free to ask me how I'm doing and we can talk honestly and openly about the ups and downs; I've given up and started over way more than I am proud of, so I understand the roller coaster. But now, 35 pounds lighter and 4 sizes smaller, I can tell you I'm seeing and feeling a change ... don't you want to feel one too?

Five years ago, I started a rigorous workout routine and ruthlessly cut carbs from my diet. I lost 50 pounds ... then I got pregnant and gained more back than I lost. So I started all over again and along came #2, and I was back to the drawing board. A year ago, I started going to the gym for an hour and a half, four days a week. I ate "sensibly." And had no results.
Now, I am part of an online support group, have met up with some great people here on MDB who offer inspiration, and most importantly have committed to stop being that "fat" person in the mirror. I am changing the way I eat; I have substituted pita chips and hummus for chips and french onion dip. I have a really yummy fruit salad instead of a handful of M&Ms. And I don't eat late at night to assuage my boredom. I enjoy going to the gym and swimming laps, doing some cardio, and then building my muscle mass on the weights. I spend a spare ten minutes doing the Ten Minute Trainer instead of gabbing on the internet.
Now, I'm seeing results. I look better, I feel great, my family notices a difference, and I don't need to nap in the middle of the afternoon. I'm looking forward to helping you make those same changes!
