My transformation began 14 years ago when I was given the opportunity to go back to school. I decided to study pharmacy, but I had a bad habit I needed to quit-cigarette smoking. How would my patients trust what I was telling them when I myself was addicted to tobacco? I picked a quit date, set my cigarettes down and started to run. At first, I could only run from one stop sign to the next without stopping. Every day I added distance until I completed one mile without stopping-that was a day to celebrate! I ran 3-5 miles every day to beat the stress and keep from gaining weight.

My first job out of pharmacy school was demanding and I spent long hours at work. Something had to give and unfortunately it was my running. After a few years, I gained 20lbs, was tired all the time and not very happy with myself. A friend encouraged me to start running again-this was not easy. After a few months, I decided I needed a goal to help me stick with it. I had always wondered what it would be like to run a marathon. I have run several marathons since then, but found that all running leads to muscle imbalance and injuries. About this time, my friend introduced me to MDB and P90X. I incorporated it into my marathon training and it sure made a difference! I ran my marathon in Oct. 2007 and met my goal-I qualified to run the Boston Marathon in 2008! P90X strengthened my arms, legs and core-every area needed to be a stronger runner.

Thanks to MDB and P90X I have discovered that healthy eating habits and strength training can make a huge difference in our lives. You do not have to run a marathon to be healthy and fit. As your MDB coach, I would like to help you reach your goals and improve your lifestyle. Happy training!
